Resolved Question: How does one get a hunting mentor?

I'm 22 years old and just about to finish my Hunter's Ed. course in Missoula, MT. I'm originally from California and don't know too many people to use as a mentor for hunting. I am also the only one in my family interested in hunting. What does one do in this scenario come hunting season? Just go out and figure things myself or hire an outfitter? Ultimately, I'll do the "sink or swim" method, but if I can try to make friends with other hunters that'd be great. The one stressor is that everyone has their own schedules in personal life.
